The SEMIPRO Difference

One key difference that SEMIPRO Wedding provides is the use of semi-professional photographers. This page will help explain who we are and what we can and cannot provide.

Professional Photographers

SEMIPRO Photographers

Casual Photographers

Professional photographers are people that derive the majority of their personal income from their photography work. Normally, professionals have professional equipment, belong to trade organizations/associations, carry Error and Omissions (mal-practice) Insurance, run a full business with all the extra expenses (overhead) that go along with that. Many professional photographers produce outstanding work and are well worth what you pay them in many cases. We highly recommend their services for clients only interested in the best possible results and/or weddings/events that very difficult to photograph.

Many professional photographers only provide a limited set of photographs or require buying a package of prints or an album. Especially in those cases, photographer will impose very strict license on their work -- that is, no copying or reprints without specific permission from them. Transfer of copyright of the photographs are either not available or excessively expensive. In addition, some professional photographer may discourage guest/secondary photographer -- in rare occasion, even rude.

Traditional professional photographers are expensive. Normally, a budget for wedding photography is approximately 10% of the overall cost of the wedding. In America, the average wedding costs nearly $30,000, which means the average wedding photography cost is around $3,000. It is not unusual to have photography services cost over $5,000. For those wanting to cut down their wedding expenses, we offer a possible alternative for the budget minded couple.

Our semi-professional photographers are advanced amateurs that have a very good understanding of photography and are able to deliver outstanding results accordingly in most conditions. Because most of our photographers do not rely upon their craft as the main/sole income, we do not have the same overhead associated with full professional photographer.

Our semi-professional photographers use much of the same professional equipment, although so pros will use higher grade gear depending on their particular focus. Since we have a good understanding of photography and our equipment, we are often able to produce professional or near professional results in most conditions. There are a few times when only a pro can get the shot.

In addition, we take our time with your family and guests. We understand weddings and other special events are moments that everyone wants to help capture. Our photographers often provide helpful tips and instruct them on when/where to take snap shots. We have no problem working with other photographers or being a secondary/backup photographer to a professional.

Casual photographers are people that do not have a good understanding of photography and typically use fully automatic "Point and Shoot" style cameras. Photographs created by casual photographers typically look like "snap shots" and lack the quality and polish normally associated with semi/professional. It is normally very easy to tell the difference between casual P&S photography and semi-professional work.
